Every page carried a frontmatter `title` and repeated it as a body `# `, which
the site renders as two headings with two permalinks. The heading text matched
the frontmatter on 41 of the 43 pages; on the two quickstarts it did not, so
"Make a video with your Agent" and "和 Agent 一起制作视频" give way to the
titles already in their frontmatter.
Each step's video now sits directly under that step's heading rather than after
its prose, and the avatars link keeps a blank line beneath it.
Install the skill, clone with your product, log in or bring your own key, approve the quote, watch the result. Replace the eight step recordings with four and drop the Studio review, production, revision and variants steps in both languages.
`b32e8253` replaced both Playgrounds with `packages/studio`, but the rename
stopped at `examples/`. The skill and the docs still named the tool, the
command and the recipe sheet that no longer exist.
`studio.svs` becomes `recipes.svs` with its import alias, in the 39 files the
examples rename had left behind — docs, the `docs/zh` mirrors, the skill
references and the package manifests whose authoring snippets show the alias.
The old name was already loose, since an `.svs` file is a parameter-recipe
sheet rather than anything Studio reads; once `studio` names the application
it reads as Studio's own config file, which it is not. Two test fixtures keyed
the alias as a plain string rather than inside `{}`, so they moved with it —
`packages/text` had a real reference to `recipes.shot` resolving against a
`studio.shot` fixture.
`pnpm svml:playground -- --source main.svml` becomes `pnpm studio -- --run
build.svrun` throughout. The Run Source is not an optional extra any more:
Studio's unit of work is the Run, and it reads the Author SVML back out of it.
`preview-check.mjs` imported `svml-playground/src/pipeline/preview.js`, which
this branch deleted, so the skill's own build gate had been dead since
`b32e8253`. It is rebuilt on Studio's real entry path — `loadStudioDomain`,
`loadStudioRun`, `inspectStudioRun`, `readStudioSession` — and reports
`provenance.errors` and unresolved Candidates instead of the `waiting` and
`stand-in` fields Studio no longer has. It stays in URL space for Windows, as
`e0ecccb9` established, and closes the archive before exiting rather than
leaving it open behind a `process.exit` in a `try`.
The preview pages are rewritten rather than renamed, because what they
describe is gone. Studio has no stand-ins, no black frames and no estimated
timing; it refuses to open and names what is missing. So the pages document
the five refusals verbatim, and say plainly that a Source still declaring
ungenerated shots will not open — including the warning that no example in
this repository currently does. Running the ported check over all nine
committed Run Sources: six refuse on unresolved capabilities or a target that
is not a Film, and three on footage under the gitignored `examples/**/assets/`.
Claiming otherwise would have shipped a quickstart whose first command fails.
`pnpm check` clean; `pnpm test` 510 pass, 0 fail; `pnpm test:release` 8 pass.
It precedes both paths through the quickstart - the agent and the terminal -
so it reads as a step of its own rather than as preamble to whichever
section happens to follow it.
The clone sat inside the coding-agent section and again inside the terminal
walkthrough, which reads as two different starting points for what is one
checkout. It now happens once, directly under the Quickstart heading, and
the sentence about /narratage being available moves to where the prompt is
actually sent.
Both entry points gave the reader a prompt without saying where to send it
from. `/narratage` is available once the repository is cloned, so the clone
comes first and the prompt is the slash command itself.
The Playground leaves the Develop guide. That section is for people
extending the system, and a preview tool nobody edits is not one of its
subjects. What a reader actually needs - the selection behaviour, the
nesting colours, sound, and that it draws every Track whichever package
made it - moves to the quickstart page. The one authoring fact the guide
carried, that Frame edges are absolute positions rather than insets, moves
to the page where a Frame is first declared.
Both entry points told the reader to send a prompt without saying where to
send it from. The skill lives in the checkout, so the clone comes first and
the agent runs inside it; the prompt is now the `/narratage` invocation.

The README header carried four links and middle dots; it now carries the two
destinations a reader actually wants, Quickstart and Develop, plus a switch
to the new Chinese README, which links back.
Three passages explained the design rather than telling anyone what to do:
the Quickstart line asserting that the skill introduces no separate workflow,
the README aside that it "does not pretend" Slot syntax is usable, and the
"boundaries are deliberate" lead-in to a list that states the boundaries.
The Quickstart also carried the semantic-spine framing, which belongs to the
argument for the design and not to a page about running five commands.
A wider sweep of the Quickstart tree for the same pattern turned up little
else. Most "deliberately" and "intentionally" phrasings there are load
bearing — that doctor audits the whole profile so you know to reach for a
narrower command, that Fine has no max-lines so you stop looking for one.
The caption playbook now covers Caption Playground, which the skill never
mentioned, with the condition that it starts only when the user asks or when
a styling decision cannot be settled from the source — and with the warning
that an agent cannot see the page it just served.
Installing a skill folder rather than a lone SKILL.md is something agents
already handle, and in this checkout neither Claude nor Codex needs telling:
.claude/skills and .codex/skills are committed symlinks to .agents/skills,
so the skill is discovered on open. The line was carried in from the prose
ff5bccb had already removed; without it the instruction is again word for
word what it was before e5772ed deleted the section.
Commit e5772ed replaced the opening — a 1933 New York Times review of *The
Power and the Glory*, where a critic coined "narratage" for narration plus
montage, and the paragraph explaining that this is precisely what the system
does — with a technical sentence, and left a shortened trace at the very
bottom under "Why the name". The date, the publication and the film were
lost outright.
Restore it as the opening in both languages and drop the bottom section,
which now only repeats it; its one distinct idea, that words are the
semantic spine while visuals stay independently authored Tracks, moves into
the opening.
The skill instruction moves up with it. It was the last section on the page,
below a "Read next" table that reads as the end, so a reader who wanted an
agent to do the work found that out only after being walked through the five
manual steps. It is now the first heading, followed by a line handing readers
who are not using an agent to those steps.
The instruction was restored into the tail of the "Read next" section with
no heading of its own. It therefore never entered the page outline, and sat
below a table that reads as the end of the page — present in the HTML,
absent to anyone looking for it.
Commit e5772ed removed the "Use the Narratage skill" section from both
Quickstart entry pages, leaving a single sentence telling the reader a
skill exists. What went with it was the copy-paste block that made the
sentence actionable — the instruction you hand the agent. Bring that back
in the shape it had before, and fold the one fact worth keeping from the
prose that ff5bccb had already dropped: install the whole
.agents/skills/narratage folder, not only SKILL.md. That belongs inside
the instruction, since the agent is who acts on it.
Both entry pages also stopped expanding SVML anywhere, leaving the acronym
to first appear in the page description and never be defined; the Script
row of the "Read next" table had lost Role Cues and text projections,
which the Script page documents as live vocabulary.
The Chinese Slot section never received the pre-release warning the
English page carries, so a reader following the Chinese guide could write
an unbound Slot into main.svml and have check fail with no warning given.
