Copy, unstitch, reverse and remove faces, Patch (a sketch region, or a planar loop
of a body's edges) and Extend work on the body's record: Parts puts any faces,
edges and vertices into canonical order, and each face taken is the body's face
(Kept), its edges the body's. Sheets are SMLib's sweeps with no caps (extrude,
revolve, curve sweep, stations for twist/scale/orientation/rails), a chain at a
time; a loft lofts each column of matched segments and stitches the columns.
History: a wall comes from the segments its edges in the start plane lie along.
Stitch joins the bodies' records and sews them with smlib_stitch, faces and edges
carried back to the bodies through SMLib's tags. Offset Surface offsets each face
on its own with smlib_offset_sheet and stitches the offsets within the tolerance:
smooth neighbours stay joined, sharp ones come apart, as before; the fitted
offset surfaces and their fold check are gone. Thicken is SMLib's thicken.
Not yet: a surface sweep along a path with corners (refused). Tests ported;
the fold-radius message test now checks only the refusal.

loft_rails.rs placed stations between truck wires. Its law now works on the
sections' exact NURBS curves (Section, from the sketch segments' record curves)
and returns the sections and stations, each a curve list a loft is skinned
through; nothing of truck is left.
Case 4056 (a keel rail lying in the bow's sketch plane): rail() anchored every
section at the rail's first crossing of the section's plane after the section
before. A rail lying in the last section's plane crosses it all along, first at
the far section, 100 mm from the bow's curve, and the loft was refused ("a guide
rail crosses section 2's plane"). A rail runs from the first section to the
last, so the last section is met where the rail ends; the sections between are
met at their first crossing, as before.
smlib_sweeps.rs's solid loft_rails keeps its own copy of the anchoring and has
the same cause; it should call loft_rails::railed.

trim_keep told each piece's side of the tool from the tool's field at the
centres of its mesh triangles. Each piece now takes one point on its own
surface inside its trims (SMLib's CalculateAnInternalPoint, through
smlib_face_points), mapped to the record's face order through SMLib's
numbering of the split body; the tool's field there says the side. A piece

planar_regularize now calls the fork's smlib_merge_faces as it is
(SmBrep::RemoveTopologicalEdgesAndVertices with the edges under the kept points
staying): every edge the lineage does not choose is kept by a point at its
middle, so SMLib joins the faces across the chosen ones only. A body with more
kept edges than one call takes stays as it is, as the other budgets leave it.
splitface, planar_sources and planar_regularize read the body's record in place
(Body::record) and a face's use from Body::face_forward; the two-lump test body
is Body::from_record of the two records side by side.

planar_sources reads each face's oriented plane from the body's record
(actual_planes: the surface's plane, turned with the face's use) instead of
truck faces; the lineage rules are unchanged. planar_regularize picks the edges
to remove as before (two faces of one shell on one certified plane, from one
source unless generated walls, off every split line) from the record's edge
uses, and SMLib joins the faces across them (Brep::merge_faces: each edge
removed where SmEdge::IsTopological finds the faces' surfaces coincide), so the
merged face is SMLib's and the history its own tags (Merged), composed through
the body's. SmBrep::Simplify is not this operation: it refits curves and
surfaces by knot removal and sampling.
The planar_sources tests read face points, edges and planes from the record;
the two-lump body is built from the two records side by side, each face given
the source of its own operand's face on that plane. Deleted:
planar_regularize's alternate_adjacency_path_cannot_remove_protected_internal_edge,

coplanar.rs (coincident faces pushed apart, faces glued back to back, bores and
insets joined, imprint unions), seam_faces.rs (round faces halved before a
retried boolean) and planar_faces.rs (flat B-spline faces made planes so the
coplanar strategies see them) existed to get round the mesh-based boolean's
coincident faces and seam loops. SMLib's boolean classifies coincident faces
itself (SmMerge::ManifoldBoolean, step 2), so these are retries and second
paths around the operation, not operations: deleted, not ported.
Their tests of what the boolean gives keep their volume, lump and validity
assertions and now run against the boolean itself (coplanar_tests.rs and
seam_faces_tests.rs need their own mod lines in lib.rs); the assertions on the
strategies used, and the tests of push_faces, grow_faces_exact, trim_exact,

A tool is now a set of schema 4 record surfaces, each over a parameter box,
unbounded where the tool is: a plane; a face's surface over its own box; a
sketch curve as one patch per segment swept along the direction (a line a plane
strip, an arc swept square to its sketch a cylinder strip, any other segment its
exact rational Bezier extruded), an open curve continued along its end tangents
past the body. SMLib cuts the faces where the patches meet them
(Brep::split_faces: its intersection curves trimmed to each face by
MergeCurvesOnSurface) and slices a body with one patch (Brep::split_body); the
history is SMLib's own tags. Nothing is traced on a mesh, sampled or fitted.
Which side of the tool a point is on is its offset along the normal of the
nearest patch, each patch's surface prepared once with its projection grid
(ToolSide), never per point. ToolSide::of and side_of_point take the body the
tool must reach past; face_side becomes face_sides (every face of a body, one
mesh); analytic_field becomes analytic_face (a face of a body, on its record);
split_any returns the face map instead of the truck imprint. split_edges_at and
fit (a Catmull-Rom fit through samples) are deleted with the truck code.

plane among their surfaces) and returns the plane, the caller building the face on the record.

Seams and merged topology tell faces on one surface apart by the record's own surfaces
(offset::surf_of: plane, cylinder, sphere, cone, torus) and, for free-form faces, by the very
same surface record, never by fitting circles, spheres and cones to mesh vertices or by
comparing mesh normals along an edge. Edges are welded by their record vertices and middle
point, split lines and pinches read the record edge's points, a cone's apex is checked against
its faces' record vertices. The mesh still gives faces of no area and a cylinder face's extent
along its axis; a cylinder's side (hole or boss) is the record's.

planar_regions_boolean replaced each free-form loop (a font's curves, an ellipse) with arcs
fitted within PLANAR_FIT_TOL before its own line/arc arrangement, and a loop the operation
cut kept those arcs: a cut free-form outline was extruded inexactly. Now each operand is a
sheet of planar faces built from its loops' own curves (Brep::planar_faces; lines, arcs and
the Béziers and conics as NURBS, exactly) and SM_API's 2D boolean combines them
(Brep::boolean2d): SMLib's topology intersector, the one the solid booleans use, splits the
operands' edges where they cross and the result's edges are copies of those curves. The
faces read back exactly (prism_curve::projected: lines, arcs, each Bézier span as the
segment it is). The Rust arrangement (crossings, ray parity, chaining, the fit and the
"exact again" restoration) is deleted: one source, no fitting.
extrude_planar_regions unites its regions the same way (balanced unions of one-region
sheets) and refuses pieces of the union that share a vertex, read off the result's
topology instead of a line/arc crossing test on fitted arcs.
Signatures stay (doc/sheet.rs and mesh_convert call them as before); `tolerance` is the gap
a loop may close within and the least tolerance edges are read back at. PLANAR_FIT_TOL
stays for doc/engine's flat patterns, which fit their own loops. smlib_sweeps::curve (the
Seg2 to SMLib curve conversion) is made pub(crate) for the sheets.
Tests: those of the deleted helpers (crossings, ray parity, closest_param, segment boxes)
are gone; the free-form test now asserts what the exact boolean gives (the half-ellipse
notch is the ellipse's own conics, area exact to 1e-6; the joined ellipses are conics), and
the fitted-arc budget assertion is dropped. Without the smlib feature the booleans are
refused ("not supported yet").

The general fill (G1/G2 patches, patches through points, loops that bound no height
field) is solidcraft_geom::fill_iso's patch on the loop's own edges: each line or spline
edge, on its interval and run the loop's way, is a side, so its pcurve is a straight line
in (u, v), exact. The frames across a G1/G2 edge are read off the one face beside it in
the record: its outward normal, the way it leaves the edge, and for G2 its normal
curvature from the surface's exact second derivatives. Corners whose neighbours' tangent
planes disagree are exempt from the angle tolerance. Loops of five or more edges, and
conic, rational or traced edges, are refused by name.

The loop's edges become the sides of the unit square (three sides: the fourth collapses
to the first corner, a pole), each mapped affinely onto [0, 1]. Opposite sides are made
compatible exactly (split into Bezier pieces at every break, raised to the higher degree,
rejoined), the bilinearly blended Coons patch is the start, and with the boundary rows
held the interior control points solve the G1/G2 rows, the points to pass through and a
vanishing multiple of the thin-plate energy by least squares, refined by halving spans.
Every edge lies on the patch exactly and its pcurve is a straight line in (u, v), affine
in the edge's own parameter: no pcurve is fitted.

Encoding writes the body's own record and decoding makes the body from it: the adapter to and

A sweep path through 3D sketch curves sampled every planar sketch curve in it
into a 0.01 mm polyline, and took every linked 3D curve as the points its link
stored, so SMLib got a many-cornered polyline (and refused a smooth one). Now:
- a planar sketch curve in such a path is its exact segments
(PathPiece::Segs of PathSeg::of_sketch over exact_segs);
- a linked curve whose source has an exact curve keeps it: Wire::exact holds
the record curves (WireCurve: schema 4 curve + interval) end to end along the
wire, set with the wire when the link is resolved: an included body edge its
record edge (kernel::brep_record), an included sketch curve leaving the plane
its segments (kernel::sketch_record_curve). Wire::map carries them with a
placement. The sweep follows them through kernel::curve_path (line, arc,
ellipse as rational quadratic spans, polyline, B-spline as Bézier spans).
- curves known only as points (projected onto a face, intersection and iso
curves: the link resolves them on the mesh) stay points.
Kernel, for the sheet and blend ports: planar_face_record (a profile face as a
schema 4 sheet record with exact pcurves), smlib_sweeps::chain_curves (a
segment chain as SMLib curves), body_from_record (any record into SMLib,
checked), sketch_record_curve; record curves from design files are checked in
curve_path. Format: pending/wire-exact-curves.rs.

PathSeg::Bezier(SpaceBezier) replaces PathSeg::Cubic: a rational Bézier span in
space of degree 1 to 9 (homogeneous control points), so a drawn spline's cubic
spans and an edge's own curve are one kind of segment, swept by SMLib as the
NURBS it is. SpaceBezier evaluates, differentiates (quotient rule on the
hodograph), measures and walks by length (Gauss-Legendre), reverses and maps.
edge_path gives a body edge's record curve as path segments exactly: a line,
an arc, an ellipse as rational quadratic spans, a polyline's lines, a B-spline
as its Bézier spans between knots (bspline::segment); an intersection curve
(no exact curve in the record) is refused. PathPiece::Segs carries such exact
curves in a point path; PathSeg gains reversed, mapped (a placement) and
of_sketch (a sketch segment on its plane). The cubic_* helpers are deleted.

extend_surface keeps its signature, options and error messages. One model:
SMLib extends the surface past a side of the face's parameter box
(smlib_extend_sheet, CreateExtendedSurface: natural continues the end spans,
tangent G1, curvature G2) and the face stays one face on it, tagged so the
face is Modified and its sides keep their edges. Several picked sides grow
the box on each. Up to a target, the face is extended 50 body sizes past
its edge and trimmed back with trim_keep (SMLib's exact intersection),
keeping the piece the face lies in. Back to the bounds is untrim of the
picked edge's face, in place, with its holes; one already there is
refused. A plane's straight edges with neighbours lengthened still go
through surfaces::extend. Edges are picked on the schema 4 record (samples
of each edge's curve), an edge two faces share or of a hole refused as before.
Not ported (every far edge there was a cubic fitted through marched
samples, which the exact-B-splines rule forbids): an edge that is not a
whole side of its surface's box (trimmed edges, curved planar edges such as
a disc's, a notch), mitred corners on such faces, sides run square to the
edge on a non-box face, and bodies of more than one face. These now answer
"not supported yet: ...". Tangent and curvature no longer add a separate
run-off face: SMLib's G1/G2 extension is one face (the engine's
surface.extend description says so).
Tests ported keeping their assertions: the planar extension, the cylinder
strip along its axis, around and both (now an extruded arc, not a truck
revolution), the extruded strip, the parabola extended naturally (now a
conic extruded), back to bounds (the saddle from loft_sheet and trim),
hostile requests. Deleted, as what they test no longer exists:
neighbours_lengthened_or_square, self_intersecting_extensions_are_refused,
a_disc_grows_by_its_curved_edges, neighbouring_faces_extend_together, the
tangent/curvature run-off half of the B-spline test, and
a_continued_bspline_is_unchanged_on_its_range (the deleted continue_span).

untrim keeps its signature and messages. The face is picked in SMLib by a
point inside it (the centre of its largest mesh triangle), holes by their
points; SMLib deletes the holes or rebuilds the face over its surface's
parameter box with the holes kept (fork c6c7fb4). The body goes tagged as
operand 0, so faces and edges come back with their origins; the untrimmed
face is Modified. A face whose span goes all the way round its surface now
closes on the seam instead of being refused.
solidcraft-smlib: Brep::untrim_face (ffi/trim.rs, trim.rs) and
Error::NotExact for SMLIB_ERR_NOT_EXACT.
Tests: ported to the record (loops counted on brep_record; the saddle made by
loft_sheet and trim instead of truck types; the torus face copied out by a
point). Deleted: the_outer_loop_is_found_whatever_order_the_loops_are_in: it
built a truck face listing its hole first; SMLib's import always puts the
outer loop first, so the case no longer exists.

trim / trim_keep / mutual_trim keep their signatures and behaviour; the
truck walk over the split solid is gone. The body is split where the tool
meets it (splitface::split_any), each piece's side is the tool's field at
the centre of its mesh triangle where the field is largest (the record
mesher), regions come from splitface::regions, and the pieces not kept go
through remove_faces, whose history record::after carries back to the
body. A mutual trim's nearest boundary edge is found on the schema 4
record: edges one face uses once, their middles through CurveEval.

A solid body holds its record (canonical faces, edges and vertices are the body's everywhere) and
builds its SMLib body from it on first use, or keeps the one the operation made. Queries read the
record: planar faces, outline and exact bounds, counts, closed shells, lumps from its material
regions (record parts, with their history), shell nesting from its regions. The orientation mesh,
the revolved-face rephasing, kept tolerances and the old kernel's mesh caches are gone. History's
edge faces come from the record's edge uses. The kernel no longer depends on the old kernel's
crates; SMLib's crate is a plain dependency (without the smlib feature it answers not built).

compound concatenates the records and takes the part of all their material, so the result is
in canonical order with each face, edge and vertex numbered from its input. part now keeps an
island inside a void when both its region and the void's material are taken.

patch_loop picks the closed loop among the record's edges, certifies a plane (lines by
their ends, splines by their control points, conics by centre and tilt, traced curves by
a planar support) or fits the height field, and assembles one face on the body's own edge
records; the height field's parameters are plane coordinates, so each line or spline
edge's pcurve is its exact projection (segmented to the edge's interval). The history
marks the face generated and each edge the body's own. A fit on circular, elliptic or
traced edges, whose pcurves on the spline have no exact form, is refused by name, as is
the general fill (G1/G2, points, loops bounding no height field) until it is ported.
Tests ported to the record; the general-fill ones stay and fail until then.

corner_g2_patch builds the same tensor patch and returns CornerPatch: the B-spline
surface record, its v = 0 boundary line (the net's first column on the same u knots)
and each side's interval of it, so the seams lie on the patch exactly without cutting
the curve. The fold check and seam_error read the record surface through SurfaceEval.
Tests ported (the rolling ball is a sphere record).

Edges, the faces each bounds and each face's outward side come from the schema 4
record; stations on the edge's curve (CurveEval::derivs for its tangent) are projected
onto each face's SurfaceEval, and the normal curvature across the seam is read from the
surface's exact second derivatives (SurfaceEval::second). Behaviour, budgets and
messages unchanged.

Closed forms on cylinders, cones, spheres and tori; on a spline the basis functions' own
second derivatives (local_basis) through the quotient rule for the weights; zero on a
plane. A revolution has none (its profile evaluator carries first derivatives only).
The seam continuity measure reads normal curvatures from them.

fair_bspline_curve/_surface and fair_nurbs_curve/_surface take and give the schema 4
record's Spline and RationalSpline kinds (the weights kept, the knots unchanged).
fair_faces fairs the picked faces' surfaces in the body's record, keeps its loops,
edges, vertices and pcurves, and has SMLib build the body; its history marks the
faired faces modified and every edge kept when SMLib keeps the record's order, and is
left off otherwise. Tests ported to the record types with their assertions.

The faces' descriptions become a record with exactly the topology they give: vertices
and edges shared by key (lines, circles or flat arcs as their exact rational quadratic,
Bezier chains as B-splines), planes about the boundary's mean, revolved lines as
cylinders, cones or planes, extruded arcs as cylinders, ruled walls as B-splines with
exact iso-line pcurves. assemble() groups faces into shells, puts closed shells in
regions (a cavity where the outward normals enclose negative volume, in the solid whose
winding number about it is one), orders everything canonically and validates it.
SMLib imports the record as trusted; the body and the face each body face came from
follow SMLib's order. The edge-sheet and vertex-fan logic for touching bodies is kept.
