jyviko 393a9aab66 CI: native and reference tests stay on pushes until develop is green
They fail on develop today (4 native tests, 8 of 83 reference cases), so running them on pull
requests would fail every pull request. Back on pull requests once develop is green. Reverts

jyviko 02e1f18412 Kernel rig: each area runs only when the files its PATHS lists change, every area on the shared core
A plan job (scripts/ci/kernel_rig_plan.py, with its self-test) maps a pull request's changed files
to the areas: tests/kernel-cases/<area>/PATHS for each area, tests/kernel-cases/PATHS-ALL for the
shared core, the ladder whenever any area runs. Areas come from the folders, so a new one needs no
workflow edit. Pushes, merge groups, the release gate and runs by hand run every area. The
kernel-rig check counts a skipped build or shard as passed only when the plan selected none.

jyviko d84d00bb44 Release gate: the packages' dry run is unsigned and skips the release job
The gate passes no secrets to release.yml, so the macOS and Windows signing steps skip as
they do on a fork (no signing secret, no SignPath quota), and the new packages_only input
skips the release job (checksums, update signing, publishing). The call still grants
contents: write, which GitHub checks for the skipped job before the run.

jyviko 18d2dddac6 Release gate: every check in full and in parallel before a branch replaces main
release-gate.yml, run by hand on a branch, calls ci.yml as Run workflow with
cross-compilation (every native suite in full, reference, doc and GPU path tests, the whole
action matrix, property tests, web-offline, wasm, Windows FXC and startup), kernel-rig.yml
(every area and the ladder) and release.yml as a dry run (every package and its smoke
tests), and passes only when all three pass. release.yml can now be called (workflow_call).

jyviko b4fcd59100 Kernel rig: every area and the ladder as a parallel gate on pull requests that touch the kernel
kernel-rig.yml builds solidcraft-cli once (release, SMLib prebuilt; sccache on a sticky disk
that only pushes to main and develop commit) and hands it, with the rig's runner, to a matrix
of eleven shards: the ten areas of tests/kernel-cases/, each against its KNOWN_FAILING, and
the ladder against its golden. One path filter covers the kernel surface; drafts skip; a new
push cancels a pull request's old run; merge groups always run it, and the release gate calls
it. The areas other than fillets get a KNOWN_FAILING with only its header, to be seeded from
develop after the SMLib pin bump.

jyviko ee2a1ea061 CI: maintainers' pull requests run the tests, and the reference tests run on pull requests
A pull request whose author is an owner, member or collaborator of the repository runs
Clippy, Native Linux tests, GPU path tests and the reference tests without the
approved-for-ci label, scoped to the affected packages as before; others still wait for the
label. The reference tests leave the pull request fast lane: they run when solidcraft-cli is
selected. ci.yml can also be called (workflow_call) by the release gate, and runs as Run
workflow does. Pushes, merge groups and the nightly run are unchanged.

jyviko bc6d31e603 GPU tests build their designs with SMLib, and the GPU jobs fetch it
The GPU path tests (and the Windows FXC job, cargo test -p solidcraft-gpu) build real
designs through solidcraft-engine, a dev-dependency without its smlib feature. Run on
their own (-p solidcraft-gpu), nothing in the build turns SMLib on, so every geometric
step answered "this build has no SMLib" (10 path::* tests on develop). The
dev-dependency now asks for engine/smlib, as the apps do, and both jobs fetch SMLib
before building.

jyviko 17465a63b8 Tests: the kernel-cases ladder is the reference for what the kernel builds; the seeded robustness goldens go
The seeded robustness goldens (tests/robustness/goldens.json, tests::robustness_goldens) recorded
what truck built for seeds 0-95, so they now fail on every seed SMLib builds differently. The
kernel-cases ladder (tests/kernel-cases/ladder, cargo xtask kernel-cases --ladder), whose cases
each carry their own right answer, supersedes them.

Gone with them: fuzz::golden, the CI goldens lane (the goldens output, SLOW_SEEDS, the re-record
hint), their nextest filter and priority entries, the mutants sample and the tests/robustness/
test-data mapping in affected.py. The robustness seeds and tests::robustness stay. The docs point
at the ladder.

jyviko 517fc01dcf Fillet rig: a regression gate on every pull request that touches fillet code
cargo xtask kernel-cases --known-failing FILE grades a set against its
baseline: it fails on a case that fails and is not listed (a regression)
and on a listed case that passes (fixed: its line goes, so the list only
shrinks). The Fillet rig workflow runs the fillet set that way on pull
requests touching the blend, fillet, corner and continuity kernel files,
crates/smlib, eval*.rs, engine features.rs or the cases: one release
build of solidcraft-cli on a Blacksmith runner, SMLib prebuilt, sccache
on a sticky disk that main and develop commit.

jyviko 873124c49b CI: develop runs like main; SMLib is fetched after the Rust cache is restored
Each job fetched the prebuilt SMLib into target/ before Swatinem/rust-cache restored target/,
which replaced it, so every build that links SMLib stopped with "SMLib ... is not fetched"
(the Docker image of #7403). The fetch now follows the cache restore in every job.

develop (the SMLib kernel's trunk until it merges into main) gets main's push runs: CI runs on
pushes to it, a push compares against the last passing push to its own branch, and its runs save
the Rust caches the PRs into it restore.

jyviko 826f36a794 CI and releases fetch SMLib before building
Every job that builds the kernel with SMLib runs scripts/fetch-smlib.sh after the toolchain:
the host's prebuilt archive, the matrix target's for cross builds, wasm32's for the web jobs.
RISC-V has no archive, so its check compiles the sources with g++-riscv64-linux-gnu.

bherbruck 9e4dc48165 Release: sign Windows binaries and MSI through SignPath Foundation (#7067)
* Release: sign the Windows binaries and MSI through SignPath Foundation

When the SIGNPATH_API_TOKEN secret exists, each Windows job sends the
three .exe files to SignPath before packaging, then the MSI built from
them, using the GitHub artifact flow from SignPath's docs. The policy
is test-signing unless the signpath_signing_policy dispatch input or
the SIGNPATH_SIGNING_POLICY repository variable says otherwise. Without
the secret the jobs build unsigned exactly as before.

package.ps1 gains -Phase stage|package so signing can sit between the
build and the MSI; the artifact configuration to paste into SignPath is
packaging/windows/signpath-artifact-configuration.xml.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* SignPath: drop the description attributes the Foundation plan doesn't allow

SignPath Foundation projects get an automatic signature description (its watermark);
the artifact configuration may not override it.

* External STEP corpus: nightly import checks on real-world files (#1397)

tests/external-corpus.toml pins 20 real-world NIST PMI STEP files (AP203
geometry-only and AP242 editions from several vendor exporters, public
domain) by archive and per-file SHA-256 with the licence recorded.

cargo xtask external-corpus downloads each source once into the gitignored
corpus/external/, verifies every hash, imports each file headless
(file.insert_step + inspect.measure) and checks body count, total volume
(0.1 %) and area (0.5 %) within tolerances and time and memory budgets.
A file whose upstream hash changed is reported as 'source changed', never
as our failure. --bless "why" re-records expectations in the manifest with
a dated reason. The External corpus workflow runs it nightly.

assets: skip corpus/ when scanning for attribution (downloaded case data
is never committed).

bherbruck 3a504f5347 Agents: AGENTS.md becomes a router to focused skills, with a staleness check (Refs #6439) (#6444)
AGENTS.md drops from 16.8k to 3.7k characters: the hard rules, each naming the
check that enforces it, and a table of what to read for each kind of work.
The rest moves into eleven new skills; the five existing ones stay.

cargo xtask skills fails when AGENTS.md or a SKILL.md cites a path, an xtask
command or a skill that does not exist, when the router table and skills/
disagree, or when the router or a new skill grows past its size cap. It runs
in cargo xtask ci and the repository checks job.

bherbruck bd9d0778f6 CI: keep lavapipe's shader cache for the GPU path tests (#7113)
The first test in each GPU path shard compiles the path pipeline cold
on lavapipe (335-502 s on 16 vCPU, 665 s on 8, against the 600 s setup
budget); the later ones read Mesa's disk cache in about 30 s. Put that
cache on a sticky disk that main commits, so the first test reads it
too until the shaders change.

bherbruck 84b1aeecae CI: GPU path tests in four shards on 16 vCPU (#7096)
On 8 vCPU the first merge-queue run after #7066 failed: one gpu path
test went past the 600 s pipeline-setup budget (665 s; 204 s for the
same test on the PR run) and shard 2 took 35 minutes. lavapipe compiles
on every core, so the shards move to 16 vCPU, and four count partitions
(27 tests each) replace three hash ones (41/40/27).

bherbruck a6354dfec5 CI: GPU path tests in three shards of their own; Windows in the queue only when a group touches it (#7066)
The 108 gpu path:: tests run one at a time (gpu-path test group) and took
about 36 of Native Linux tests' 45 minutes in a merge-queue run. They now
run in a GPU path tests job, three hash partitions on 8 vCPU, beside the
other tests; Native Linux tests leaves exactly them out. A `gpu` output of
Select checks drives both the job's `if` and the `ci` check.

The Windows jobs now run in a merge group only when its diff reaches what
they exercise (the pull request patterns and the Cargo.lock graphics-stack
check), not on pushes to main, and still nightly and by hand.

Mikalai Kukhta 4e2270517a Release: sign and notarize the macOS app (#5749) (#6016)
* Release: sign and notarize the macOS app with a Developer ID (#5749)

package.sh --sign signs the app, the CLI and the DMG with the hardened runtime and a secure
timestamp, notarizes the DMG and the CLI zip, staples the DMG and checks it with stapler and
spctl. The app carries entitlements.plist: com.apple.security.cs.disable-library-validation
lets the hardened runtime load 3Dconnexion's client framework (crates/threedx-client).

signing.sh --setup imports the certificate into a temporary keychain and writes the API key;
--cleanup removes both. The release workflow builds both architectures first (macos-build, no
secrets), then signs and packages in the join job. Without the APPLE_* secrets (forks, dry runs)
the app keeps its ad-hoc signature and the job summary says so.

Irakli Kourtis ff8b09c225 Kernel paused: label new kernel issues, PRs and discussions for a maintainer to answer (#3994)
While a new geometry kernel is evaluated, a workflow labels new issues, pull
requests and discussions about kernel work kernel-paused, so a maintainer finds
them and answers in person. A pull request counts when it changes
crates/kernel/ or vendor/truck*, anything else when its title names a kernel
operation. Crash and data-loss reports and anyone who can push are left alone.
CONTRIBUTING.md says so.

* CI: build and run the tests in one job, sccache on a Blacksmith sticky disk

The tests job compiles and runs the tests itself on the 32 vCPU runner, so a pull request or merge

about 1100 per-ref entries were evicting each other, to a sticky disk that only main commits.

The merge queue reads the required ci check from the newest run of a commit. Adding any label but

'ci (ignored label)'), so a pull request that had passed could not enter the queue (#1850, #3182,

when the newest one that ran its checks passed.

The merge queue builds up to three groups at once, but every group's

repository checks.

Pushes to main ran on the one self-hosted machine and the Windows jobs on
GitHub's runners. Both move to Blacksmith (Windows Server 2025, 8 vCPU),

self-hosted job left, the local routing goes: no warm build directories,
every run builds the test archive once and the shards run it, and main
saves the build caches every other run restores.

jyviko f945e79278 CI: run the GitHub-hosted Linux jobs on Blacksmith again, sized per job
Re-applies #2237 (reverted in #2277 while the Blacksmith account awaited verification) on today's
ci.yml: every ubuntu-24.04 job or fallback runs on blacksmith-<N>vcpu-ubuntu-2404, sized as #2237
did (quick-compile, new since, gets 8), and steps that asked runner.environment now tell our own
machines apart by runner name, since Blacksmith runners report 'self-hosted' too. The trusted
self-hosted routing and the fork routing are unchanged.

jyviko f1b721b00c CI: Docker rebuilds for ATTRIBUTION.md; generated files follow licence inputs
From the review: the web app embeds ATTRIBUTION.md, so the Docker image's Markdown exclusion now
keeps it; and THIRD-PARTY-LICENSES.txt also reads the vendored crates' licence files and the
fonts' OFL texts, so changes there regenerate it.

jyviko c41845e6d7 CI: carry only from this pull request's runs, compare patches verbatim
From the review: git patch-id --stable ignores whitespace, so a conflict resolution that only
respaced the change (inside a string, or Python indentation) counted as no change and was
carried; --verbatim compares every byte. And a passing run is now taken only from this pull
request (by number, or for a fork, where GitHub lists none on the run, by head repository and
branch), not from another pull request with the same head commit.

jyviko 2f92aaee6c CI: one tested rule for code changes; review fixes
From the review of this PR:
- What counts as code lives only in scripts/ci/affected.py now: nothing selected and not full
means no code changed, on pull requests and pushes to main alike. The untested bash copy in
Select checks disagreed with it. Root files and folders a crate embeds now select that crate
(the licence texts and NOTICE: the engine; skills/: the MCP server's tests), where before a
change to them ran no test at all. Other workflows and the bots' scripts select nothing.
- A push to main skips the native jobs only when nothing a build reads changed since the last
push to main whose run passed. Comparing with the push just before was unsafe: a newer push
cancels a waiting run, so that commit may never have been tested.
- Fail fast applies to pull requests only. On main, nightly and Run workflow the test build and
the shards run regardless of the repository checks, so the action matrix and property tests
that hang off Build tests keep their signal. Doc tests (main and nightly only now) no longer
  wait for the checks.
- tests/robustness/ turns on the goldens, so a change to goldens.json runs the seed tests.
- tests/oracle/ no longer selects the kernel, which never reads it.
- The workflow header and CONTRIBUTING describe what main and pull requests now run.

jyviko b045d9deae CI: a push that only merges main into a passing change carries its result
Merging main into a pull request (Merge branch 'main', or GitHub's Update branch) restarted the
whole run. Over three days 1,241 such merges started 966 runs and about 21,000 runner-minutes, and
872 of the merges brought in nothing that touched the pull request's files. Select checks now
recognises the case (scripts/ci/main_merge.py): HEAD is a merge whose other parent is on main, the
change's own patch is unchanged (git patch-id), and a ci.yml run of the change before the merge
passed with its test shards. Then only the repository checks run, the ci job names the passing run
in its summary, and main tests the merged result after it lands. Anything else, or any doubt,
runs the full set as before.

jyviko 7555b34afb CI: doc tests in the pull request fast lane; heavy jobs wait for the repository checks
Doc tests move to main and nightly, beside the reference tests and the Windows jobs: on pull
requests they were the only failing job 3 times in about 7,900 runner-minutes over three days.
Build tests, the test shards and the doc tests now start only after the format and repository
checks pass; 212 attempts in those three days ran their heavy jobs beside a failed cheap check.
Also corrects the header, which still said pull requests run the Windows jobs and the reference
tests.

jyviko 948c208db9 CI: run only what a change needs, on pull requests and on main
- Pushes to main use the same code/no-code rule as pull requests (`touches_code` in Select
checks): a push changing only documentation, packaging, other workflows or the bots' scripts
runs the repository checks only. With the merge queue off, every push to main ran the full suite
and the Windows jobs, docs-only ones included.
- affected.py: test data under tests/ selects the packages that read it (robustness, hole matrix,
projection, taper: solidcraft-engine; oracle: the CLI, the kernel, xtask; action matrix: the
  CLI, the engine, xtask), and a vendored crate the packages that use it (truck: the kernel and up;
egui-wgpu: the UI and the apps), instead of the whole workspace. tests/tools and unknown vendored
  crates still select everything.
- Docker (the web app image) skips pushes touching only docs, test data or bot scripts; Pages skips
test data and bot scripts; Generated files runs only when the manifests, lockfile, command
  registry, CLI or xtask change.

bherbruck 59ba87103e CI: heavy checks run after review (approved-for-ci label) (#2689)
* CI: heavy checks run after review (approved-for-ci label)

Pull requests without the approved-for-ci label run Select checks, the
format and repository checks and a quick cargo check. The label runs the
full suite, and every push after that does too. Other labels start no work
and never cancel a run. Main, merge groups, nightly and Run workflow are
unchanged.

* CI: approved fork PRs run heavy jobs on self-hosted-fast in private directories

An approved-for-ci label on a fork pull request sends Clippy, Build tests,
the test shards and Doc tests to the trusted runners, with private copies
of the build directory, Cargo home and rustup home that are deleted after
the job. Only the labeling event qualifies; later pushes use the old fork
routing. The skipped run of an unrelated label names its ci job differently.

bherbruck 2452513b65 CI: faster test shards
- Pull requests that can change a robustness golden check every seed but the 17 slowest, in the
same nextest run as the other tests instead of a second step after it (16-30 minutes on its own).
The slow seeds (about four fifths of the goldens' time) still run in the merge queue, on main and
nightly. A failed golden still prints how to re-record it, and junit.xml now holds the whole run.
- The slowest tests start first (nextest priority), so a shard no longer ends with one of them
  running alone.
- tspline::tests::hostile_tsplines_never_panic joins the heavy tests pull requests skip (up to
12 minutes on a GitHub runner; the same kind of check as hostile_params_never_panic).
- The ci profile builds dependencies without line tables: the test archive pull requests' shards
download goes from 3.4 GB to 2.2 GB.

bherbruck 9c411859bc CI: self-hosted test shards build in their warm directories, no 3 GB download (#2833)
On main and in the merge queue every test shard ran on the self-hosted machine but waited for
the GitHub-hosted Build tests job and then spent about 12.5 minutes downloading its 3.2 GB
archive (four shards at once over one connection). There, each shard now builds the tests in
the runner's warm build directory (the existing build-tests one) and runs its slice directly;
Build tests runs only where the shards run on GitHub's or the untrusted runners.

bherbruck 46462957e4 Revert "CI: run the triage and claim bots on the trusted light runner (#2655)" (#2735)
The trusted runners' guard refuses issue and pull_request_target events by design (they carry a
write token and handle untrusted input), so the bots failed there. They go back to GitHub's runners.
